Connecticut diesel excise tax will be 41.7 ¢/gallon, effective July 1, 2016
According to an announcement from the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services found here, the state motor vehicle fuel fuels tax (aka excise tax) on diesel fuel will be 41.7 cents per gallon effective July 1, 2016. This is a decrease from the current rate of 50.3 cents, due to declining fuel prices over the past year. Every year, DRS recalculates the excise tax and publishes a new rate effective July 1 of every year for the next 12 months. As of this writing, DRS has not yet updated the monthly excise tax reporting form OP-216 and will presumably have it updated in time for the first monthly report due under the new tax rate later this summer.
