Hydrogen fuel embraced by United Natural Foods

United Natural Foods, the largest wholesale distributor of organic and specialty foods in the U.S., has begun embracing hydrogen fuel cells. Like other companies in its industry, United Natural Foods boasts of an expansive materials handling division, which is primarily comprised of forklift trucks. For the past several decades, these vehicles have been powered by lead-acid batteries. United Natural Foods has begun seeing promise the use of fuel cells, however, and has begun taking hydrogen fuel more seriously.

Commercial Group in Gloucestershire first to convert fleet to hydrogen fuel

Commercial Group has revealed it is part of a group of companies that have won multi-million pound funding to drive hydrogen fuel use. And now the Cheltenham-based office supplies, IT services, interiors and print company is thought to be the first company in Europe, and possibly the world, to convert its complete van fleet to run off zero emission hydrogen fuel on a permanent basis.

AFC Energy boss wants feed-in tariff boost for fuel cell technology

The boss of AFC Energy has called on U.K. politicians to expand the feed-in tariff to boost the use of fuel cells in the U.K. Ian Williamson, who is also the head of the U.K. Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association (UKHFCA), was one of a number of panellists at a seminar in parliament on the role of hydrogen and fuel cells in meeting renewable energy targets.

Hydrogen fuel infrastructure gets a boost in London

A consortium of companies has emerged in the United Kingdom to support the ambitious London Hydrogen Network Expansion (LHNE) project. The project is a government-backed, three-year initiative that aims to bolster the hydrogen fuel infrastructure and promote hydrogen transport throughout London. The project is partially funded by the Technology Strategy Board, an innovation agency that is part of the U.K. government.

Future of hydrogen cars mapped out

Over one and a half million hydrogen powered vehicles could be on U.K. roads by 2030 according to a joint Government-industry study published. The forecast is made in an interim report commissioned to evaluate the benefits of hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) and ensure the U.K. is well positioned for their commercial roll-out.
