Can high-tech photosynthesis turn CO2 into fuel for your car?
The Guardian
Imagine having a fuel pump in your driveway that uses photosynthesis, the same process plants use to feed themselves, to turn carbon dioxide into fuel for your car. It's not science fiction: research groups all over the world have been working to develop artificial photosynthesis, which could greatly reduce our dependence on crude oil and make use of the growing amount of manmade carbon dioxide emissions that contribute to climate change.

A lightweight hydrogen fuel cell enables the copter to fly for 4 hours — setting a new standard
Gas World
Powered by a lightweight hydrogen fuel cell, the HYCOPTER is an industry first and will be attempting a record flight endurance of four hours — eight to 10 times the average duration of equivalent systems today. Unlike any other rotorcraft, HYCOPTER makes use of its frame structure to store energy in the form of hydrogen instead of air, eliminating energy storage weight.

New observation technique may be a boon for those interested in fuel cell technology
Hydrogen Fuel News
Toyota and the Japan Fine Ceramics Center have developed a new observation technique that could unlock a new generation of durable and efficient hydrogen fuel cells. The technique will allow for the real-time observation of fuel cell catalyst degradation and researchers will be able to monitor the behavior of platinum catalysts during the chemical reactions that occur within a fuel cell stack. These reactions are part of how fuel cells generate electrical power.

Study predicts growth in global stationary fuel cell market
Hydrogen Fuel News
Winter Green Research has released a new study concerning the global stationary fuel cell market. These fuel cells have become an important energy tool for many industries, largely due to their ability to produce high amounts of electrical power without also producing harmful emissions. Companies in the industrial sector like to use these energy systems, but they are also becoming more common in the residential sector, where they do not only produce electricity but also heat.

For-profit mandate pushes Powertech's innovation button
Business Vancouver
Sitting between a WalMart and a banquet hall on Surrey's 88 Avenue, Powertech Labs' location doesn't scream hip high-tech the way Vancouver's bike-path-adjacent startups in Yaletown or Mount Pleasant do. But it would be a mistake to dismiss the innovations coming out of the BC Hydro subsidiary for that reason, according to managing director Raymond Lings.
