Honda working on hydrogen technology that generates power inside car

At the Los Angeles Auto Show, Honda unveiled the FCEV Concept, a futuristic-looking car it says "will feature the world's first application of a fuel-cell powertrain packaged completely in the engine room of the vehicle, allowing for efficiencies in cabin space." Although fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) are rare today, they may have what it takes to be very popular one day.

California readies big funding round for hydrogen refueling infrastructure

The California Energy Commission has opened up a solicitation process for selecting and funding hydrogen refueling station projects in the state. California law mandates that the commission administers at least $20 million in grant funding annually through 2023 specifically for hydrogen refueling infrastructure, with the goal of having 100 stations in operation in the next decade.

Hydrogen fuel gains more momentum in Europe

Hydrogen fuel may begin gaining significant momentum in Europe thanks to a new consortium called the H2TRUST. The consortium is comprised of nine European organizations, including Air Products, McPhy Energy, SOL SpA, and the European Hydrogen Association, as well as others. The consortium was co-founded by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking, which exists to promote the use of hydrogen fuel and fuel cell technology throughout Europe.

Hyundai to sell hydrogen-powered SUV

That will change next year when Hyundai starts selling a Tucson SUV powered by a hydrogen fuel cell. It will be the first mass-market vehicle of its type to be sold or leased in the U.S.

Nuvera Fuel Cells to provide Fincantieri with fuel cell technology for marine vessels

Nuvera Fuel Cells has announced that it will be working with Italian shipbuilder, Fincantieri, on a program to power high-end marine vessels with advanced fuel cell technology. Nuvera has been commissioned to produce and deliver eight of its Orion fuel cell stacks (total power 260 kW), which will be used as range extenders for use on marine vessels.
