New Rec Coordinator introduced
Now that Selma’s Recreation and Community Services Department has a new recreation coordinator, we asked Liz Martinez some questions after she was introduced at the Feb. 19 Selma City Council meeting. Recreation Director Mikal Kirchner said he’s glad to have full-time help and he hopes to expand their department’s services with Martinez’ help.

In a standing room-only chamber packed with dozens of young soccer players, parents and coaches, the Redding City Council approved spending $5.15 million to replace four synthetic turf fields at the city's California Soccer Park.
If the replacement money hadn't been found, the busy soccer park at 9800 Old Oregon Trail that hosts thousands of players annually could have closed within the next year, according to a report from the Redding Community Services Department.
The council passed the measure 4–1.
