Recreation recalibration in Liberty Lake
The Splash
If you missed Liberty Lake Days last summer, you weren't the only one. When the 2015 municipal budget was approved by the City Council last winter, Liberty Lake Days made a triumphant return, earning a $30,000 earmark. The revised agenda would feature three days of festivities, including a new collaboration with a popular event known as "Barefoot 3v3 Soccer," a tournament that premiered in Liberty Lake in 2013.

Morning Sentinel via Portland Press Herald
Cleaning up litter, emptying overflowing trash cans and disposing of dog feces at city parks, playgrounds, fields and other recreation areas chewed up 12 to 16 man-hours a week for the Waterville, Maine recreation crew until the city adopted a policy requiring patrons to carry out what they carry into those areas. The trash and garbage at the sites drew birds, skunks, raccoons and flies, among other pests.

The goal of The Surgeon General's Call to Action to Prevent Skin Cancer is to increase skin cancer awareness and to call for actions to reduce its risk.
