San Francisco's Garfield Park family-friendly again with police help
San Francisco Chronicle
The silver unmarked police car slowed as it approached the cement stairs leading up to San Francisco's Garfield Park. The stairs were empty. Behind the wheel, Capt. Dan Perea smiled. He remembered when that corner of the park was hopping with drug dealing and gang goings-on. Now the park is full of families — children on swings and in the sand, strollers parked nearby, the laughter and squeals mixing with the noise from an afternoon adult soccer game on the adjacent artificial turf field.

With the wrap-up of July as Parks Make Life Better!® month, CPRS is taking this opportunity to thank and recognize all our members, companies and the California State Legislature, who worked together to promote the value of parks & recreation within our great state.

Special thanks to those cities that shared their July celebration posts on the CPRS Parks Make Life Better!® Facebook page, and to cities who adopted resolutions declaring July as Parks Make Life Better!® month. You can see city examples on the CPRS website.

Also, as a result of CPRS' partnership with California's Great America during the month of July, California's Great America will be donating $20,680 to CPRS, due to the fact that their Parks Makes Life Better!® discount coupon/ticket sales totaled 10,340!!!!
