Redwood City Parks Director inducted in prestigious U.S. Academy
The Peninsula city's Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services Christopher Beth will be inducted as a member of the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration at the National Recreation and Park Association annual conference starting Sept. 24. Once inducted, Beth will join an elite group of only 125 members nationwide.

Curbed San Francisco
Recently, the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department announced that there have been two confirmed sightings of a mountain lion on San Francisco’s west side since August 21. The agency warns Golden Gate Park and Lake Merced visitors to show caution.
Neighbors spotted a mountain lion at Lake Merced in August, and then on the west side of Golden Gate Park last Tuesday. It’s not clear if this is the same cat or different felines.

Fontana’s Community Services Department announced that it will continue Mayor Acquanetta Warren's #FontanaKindness initiative throughout the year at all 40 parks and 14 recreation sites, including City Hall, and will encourage residents to participate in a daily act of kindness.
Residents can look for a Kindness Station at their local recreation center or follow the Community Services Department Acts of Kindness list.

The push to create housing for homeless Angelenos on two city-owned lots in Echo Park lots has drawn heavy criticism but will continue to move ahead following a 10-2 City Council vote. Building the permanent supportive housing complex would require demolishing basketball courts and recreation space for young people and kids run by the nonprofit El Centro del Pueblo, which was founded in the 1970s to offer services to communities affected by gang violence.
