Playground safety concerns raised by San Diego city auditor report
KNSD-TV
How safe are San Diego's playgrounds? A report by the city's independent auditor's report now headed for review by the City Council raises some troubling maintenance issues. The findings enumerated by the auditor Eduardo Luna, fault inspection schedules, maintenance priorities and reporting procedures. Recommendations include re-training for the staff of the Park & Recreation Department.

Surviving a crisis
Aquatics International
It's every aquatics facility's worst nightmare — a child facedown and motionless in the water. In this case, it happened at the wave pool at Splash! at Lively Park in Springfield, Ore. Operators immediately turned off the wave generator, and a lifeguard performed CPR while someone dialed 911. The 12-year-old boy was breathing when paramedics rushed him to a nearby medical center.

Christopher K. Jarvi (former Director for the City of Anaheim), is being honored by the Foundation for Sustainable Parks and Recreation. FSPR has created the Christopher K.
