Recreation Providers Opinions Needed
The Delta Protection Commission is updating the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Recreation Inventory. The goal is to reach every recreation and tourism provider that operates in the Delta, in order to identify all facilities and services, and to understand the challenges and goals these organizations face. If you manage or own recreation/tourism facilities or provide recreation/tourism opportunities within the boundaries of the legal Delta, you are invited to complete the Delta Recreation Providers Survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/deltarecreationsurvey) by Dec. 23. Please direct any questions to Cheryl Essex at California State Parks: (916) 445-8814 or delta.recreation@parks.ca.gov.

CPRS Forum Highlight
E-Cigarette Regulations at Parks
Due to health and fire safety aspects, bans on cigarette smoking in parks have become more widespread. As a result, park users are increasingly turning to the use of e-cigarettes (AKA "vaping"). Does your park/agency have rules and regulations regarding the use of e-cigarettes, and if so do they differ between indoor and outdoor use?

The Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District, has a ban on smoking at all parks due to fire concerns. Does your organization have such bans?

Please reply to the forum, or email me directly at nelson@mprpd.org. Your input is greatly appreciated. Jackie Nelson, District 6

Pre-Qualification for Catering Companies
With the growing number of Catering companies on the City of Coronado's Community Center approved catering list, I'm interested to see if any city municipalities in the state of California have pre-qualification requirements for catering in their community centers, banquet halls or recreation facilities. Any information or input would greatly be appreciated! Click here to leave your response.

Commercial Usage of Park Space
We have been told by CPRS members that the following is one of the top 10 issues trending right now in Parks and Recreation in California. We'd like your feedback in order to share current practices with all CPRS members! Please respond to KAISA MILLER, CPRP, kaisam@cityofwestsacramento.org about the following items related to user groups utilizing parks for monetary gain with or without fees or permits?
  • Please name user groups you have applied fees for use/created contracts with
  • Please name user groups you have partnered with in order to provide the service to the community
  • Please send electronic documentation such as agency policies, ordinances, contracts or practices in this area and the date when these practices or policies were put into place?

The National Park Service will celebrate its centennial in 2016 and has multiple programs funded through the Budget Act and partnership agreements to commemorate this noteworthy anniversary. Not so for California State Parks. The state budget is silent regarding the department's sesquicentennial, and the department has struggled to raise money to support celebrating its anniversary.
