Public Relations and Communications Professionals Gather in Montreal for Canadian PR Conference

The CPRS Engagement + Impact National Conference came to close yesterday, June 2 in Montreal. Nearly 300 public relations and communications management professionals took part in the annual three-day event. Attendees took in 27 professional workshops and Canadian PR research presentations as well as seven keynote addresses with industry experts. Delegates spent an evening under the stars at the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium, and felt like stars at the joint CPRS-SQPRP Awards Gala on the final night of the conference. View our award winners here. Next year CPRS will welcome international delegates as it hosts the Global Alliance 2016 World PR Forum in Toronto May 29 – 31.

Les professionnels des relations publiques et des communications réunis à Montréal à l'occasion de la Conférence canadienne des relations publiques

La Conférence nationale Engagement + Impact de la SCRP s'est terminée hier, le 2 juin, à Montréal. Près de 300 professionnels des relations publiques et de la gestion des communications ont pris part à l'événement annuel d'une durée de trois jours. Les délégués ont assisté à 27 ateliers professionnels et à des présentations de recherches canadiennes en relations publiques, en plus de sept allocutions par des conférenciers invités experts de l'industrie. Les délégués ont passé une soirée sous les étoiles au Planétarium Rio Tinto Alcan et ont été traités comme des étoiles lors du Gala conjoint des Prix SCRP-SQPRP, le dernier soir de la conférence. La liste des lauréats se trouve ici. L'an prochain, la SCRP accueillera les délégués du monde entier avec la tenue du Forum mondial 2016 des relations publiques de Global Alliance, à Toronto du 29 au 31 mai.

CPRS Member Janet MacMillan Immortalized on Wall of Honour

Janet MacMillan APR, FCPRS, was honoured by Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) in Halifax, NS on Friday, May 29, 2015. MacMillan was one of 18 inspiring women to be named to the Riva Spatz Women's Wall of Honour, marking the inauguration of the new Margaret Norrie McCann Centre for Teaching, Learning and Research at the University. MacMillan is also the 2015 recipient for the CPRS Award of Attainment for her valued contribution and leadership to the profession.

Survey: CASL has no impact on email marketing practices at most companies

Nearly a year since Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) went into effect and 70 per cent of businesses say they haven’t changed their email marketing practices at all, according to a new survey. Research released from Constant Contact June 1 found 13 per cent of businesses have decreased their email marketing activity while two per cent have stopped email marketing altogether since CASL went into effect in July 2014.
