How Michael Kors tries to force Instagram to do retail
Businessweek.com
There’s money to be made for any retailer who succeeds in making Instagram a shopping site. Michael Kors Holdings is taking a crack at it, hoping to nudge its 3.1 million photo-swapping followers into making purchases. The problem facing Kors and other retailers is that Instagram, a Facebook company, doesn’t make it easy to sell stuff. For all its scale and corporate participation, the photo-sharing platform is still all about photos. The outcry that Facebook set off when it bought Instagram was apparently enough to keep it from messing with that formula.

The most memorable brand wins and fails of 2014
Mashable

This year proved once again that the risks of real-time marketing are at least as great as the rewards. Brands chimed in during the World Cup and Super Bowl, marked notable anniversaries and chased trending topics. Some like Snickers and Waffle House did so with great success. Others like Delta and JC Penney had more mixed results, to say the least.

Digital storytelling 2.0: How branded content is coming of age
Business 2 Community
Advertising, as we know of, is undergoing a massive transformation with the advent of social media. The next few years saw them experimenting in innovative ways to engage their community, be it with the tried and tested contests on Facebook and Twitter or a longer drawn community building campaign. Content focused less on the brand and more on stories that audiences connected to.
