LAST CHANCE to sign up for the Introduction to Laser System Modeling using SHaRE Training
DEPS & MZA
Do you regularly use scaling law tools to model complex optical systems, including (but not limited to) HEL, laser communications, imaging, tracking, and adaptive optics? If you answered yes, then this 3-day course may be of great benefit to you.
If you aren’t yet familiar, SHaRE provides a library of common scaling law functions upon which an analyst can build detailed system models for fast running simulations, as well as provides a flexibility in modeling approaches that may not be available in other scaling law modeling suites. This is an excellent opportunity to get familiar with SHaRE in a virtual classroom environment.
Lead by MZA and hosted by DEPS, training will take place 24 – 26 May. Sign up by Sunday 22 May to be included!

Russia uses new laser weapons in Ukraine, Zelenskiy mocks 'wonder weapon'
U.S. News and World Report
Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018 unveiled an intercontinental ballistic missile, underwater nuclear drones, a supersonic weapon and a laser weapon.
Little is known about the specifics of the new laser.
Yury Borisov, the deputy prime minister in charge of military development, told a conference in Moscow that Peresvet was already being widely deployed and it could blind satellites up to 1,500 km above Earth.

Noisecom noise generators and standalone noise sources can address the critical needs of Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS) reduction by driving coherence spreading to minimize retroflected scattering, allowing for high optical power transmission. Coherence spreading using a random noise source reduces each laser module’s sharp waveform (peak power) by modulating the phase of the laser.
