Thirty-one percent of all mass shooting deaths in 2015 were related to domestic violence incidents, according to a New York Times analysis published.
The New York Times examined violent episodes in which four or more people were killed or wounded by a firearm, including the shooter. In 2015, there were 358 shootings that fit that category, which resulted in 462 dead and 1,330 injured.

Nearly 46 million people across the globe are living in modern slavery, a system of exploitation that governments and businesses must do more to end, according to the Walk Free Foundation.
The Australia-based rights group released its global slavery index, which tracks the number of people stuck in "situations of exploitation that a person cannot refuse or leave because of threats, violence, coercion, abuse of power or deception." The instances include forced labor in farming, fishing and manufacturing, commercial sex work and forced marriage.

State Representatives and senators are working to help protect children like, Alicia Kozakiewicz.
The 28-year-old is a survivor of kidnapping and sexual abuse.
"I was raped and beaten and tortured. He kept me chained to the floor by a locking dog collar," Kozakiewicz.

Each Memorial Day, time is taken to remember those who have given their lives for our country. At memorial services across the nation, honor guards from various military branches will ceremoniously provide funeral honors for fallen soldiers. These volunteers will bring dignity, respect and reverence to those they attend. Considering many traditions in nursing are closely tied to military traditions, it is of no surprise that the concept of a nurses honor guard has grown in interest.
