FORENSIC NURSES UPDATES |
The ENA and IAFN Boards have recently approved the updated Joint Position Statement titled: Adult and Adolescent Sexual Assault Patients in the Emergency Care Setting.
The IAFN Board also approved a Position Statement on the Evaluation and Treatment of Non-Fatal Strangulation in the Health Care Settings.

On Aug. 1, Castle emailed your notice to schedule the exam. If you did not receive your email, please check your spam box. If your notice is not there, please immediately contact certification@ForensicNurses.org.
Certification is for three (3) years and expires on December 31, regardless of the month in which you attained your initial certification. For those nurses whose certification expires in 2016 The Association sent you a renewal notice earlier this year. If you have any questions about your renewal please contact certification@ForensicNurses.org or 410-626-7805 or click here to learn about the specific requirements.

Women’s centres in both Cape Breton and the Tri-County region will soon offer expanded Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner services to people at opposite ends of the province.
The teams will be on standby 24-7 at both Sydney’s Every Womans Centre and the Tri-County Women's Centre in Yarmouth. The nurses will perform a physical examination, preserve evidence if a victim decides to make a criminal complaint, and offer both crisis intervention and emotional support.
