In 2016 the SFC enters its second decade as an organization. When Damian and Britt Zunino, the husband-and-wife principals of the New York design firm Studio DB, began conceiving their weekend house in Amenia, New York, they came to a surprising realization: designing a home for themselves was a lot more difficult than doing projects for clients.
The couple bought the 12.5-acre lot for about $235,000 in 2011, having selected it for its mix of rolling hills, open field and forest, as well as for its proximity to Zunino’s parents' house in nearby Kent, Connecticutt.

It’s not unusual for homes in Los Angeles to be eligible for a game of six degrees of celebrity separation, and John Legend and Chrissy Teigen’s new Beverly Hills residence certainly qualifies. Trulia reports that the modern-style home was once owned by Rihanna, who purchased it for $6.9 million in 2009 and then sold it at a loss in 2011 for $5.03 million. The 8,520-square-foot home, decorated by Kirk Nix of KNA Design, has five bedrooms and eight baths, space that is sure to come in handy now that the couple are expecting their first child.

After renting "practically every house in the area," Tricia and Bob Donaldson decided 11 years ago that it was time to put down roots in the town that held so many memories for their family.
