Why You Should Hangout With Your Rivals
Under 30 CEO

3 Smart Details From Pinterest's New Design
Fast Company
The new Pinterest looks a lot like the old Pinterest, but the redesign includes a handful of clever details to keep users engaged. In terms of grabbing and holding our attention, Pinterest's tiled, wall-of-stuff design has proven incredibly effective — so much so, in fact, that other big sites like eBay and Medium start to adopt similar layouts themselves.

A Brief History of Wallpaper
By Michelle Garner
Much like the fashion industry, the decorating industry goes through cycles. In the fashion industry, high waists and bellbottoms are the new fad one minute, then replaced by low waists and skinny legs. In the decorating industry, professionals love the colors and variety of painting walls and accenting with a border one minute, then rave over the patterns and variety of textures offered by wallpaper. Now, it seems that wallpaper is making a slow but steady return to the decorating radar. Since wallpaper is back in style, let’s take a look at where and how it began.

American Express OPEN Forum

Good!" Then one day, totally out of the blue, they fire you. The customer didn't tell you in so many words there was a problem, but if you had paid attention, you would have seen the warning signs. Falling Water
Interior Design Magazine
The upstate New York landscape is rife with abandoned industrial buildings begging for adaptive reuse. Dia: Beacon, the 10-year-old contemporary art museum on the banks of the Hudson River, 60 miles north of Manhattan, is a paragon of the genre — an obsolete cracker-box factory transformed by OpenOffice and artist Robert Irwin into an architectural attraction and catalyst for the town's gentrification. Inspired by that example, father-and-son developers McAlpine Construction acquired a cluster of forlorn redbrick mill buildings at the other end of Beacon's mile-long Main Street.

Sailors Delight: A Dream Home Off The Coast of Santorini
ELLE Decor
Costis Psychas was diving off the coast of Therassia, an islet in Greece's Aegean Sea, when he first spotted his future dream home. Nestled in a cove at the base of a ruddy cliff, the building had been abandoned for decades and was not much more than a pile of rubble. "I almost didn't see it at first because it was built of red volcanic stones collected from the mountain, so it blends into its environment," he says. What's more, much of the structure was under water. "Which," says this passionate sailor, "is what makes it so special."

The Ideal Praise-to-Criticism Ratio
Which is more effective in improving team performance: using positive feedback to let people know when they're doing well, or offering constructive comments to help them when they're off track? New research suggests that this is a trick question. The answer, as one might intuitively expect, is that both are important. But the real question is — in what proportion?
