Secrets to a Successful Monochromatic Room
Color Chats    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
As written by Michelle Zakko, "Is the first thing that comes to mind when I mention the word monochromatic, boring? That's because monochromatic rooms often get a bum rap. We're always applauding the use of lots of color — bold palettes, high contract colors; but what about the rooms that dare to decorate with just one color?" More

Access Lighting

Vapor, so named for its “out of thin air” three dimensional appearance, is created by the diagonal cut of the glass. Equipped with a floating canopy, you have the flexibility to position the three, four or five light series as desired, regardless of the location of your j-box. The low profile of this series ensures ADA compliance, and the halogen light source provides more than adequate light for a bathroom setting.

A Home That Books Built
The Wall Street Journal    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Jane Friedman's latest venture is dependent on rise of the e-book and the digital age of publishing. But the Manhattan apartment of the veteran executive still revolves around the old-fashioned book. Recently, Friedman, 66, sat in her red-lacquered library, which is lined with some 10,000 books. "Books have been a part of me for more than 40 years, so this library really tells the story of my life," she said, pointing out authors she has encountered personally and professionally over the years. Novels by John Updike span two shelves; her "nonfiction wall" has volumes by David Halberstam, Bruno Bettelheim and Robert Caro; shelved on the fiction wall are books by Michael Chabon and John Gardner. Retro Eclectic Design Interiors    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Most people don’t look at a rusty old hammer and see the perfect thing to hang on an interior wall, or see a pile of padlocks as potential art or weather-beaten wood as a place to put cherished photos. These are things that you find in junk piles and salvage yards. But to those with an eye for up-cycling and re-purposing, these things are treasures that have the potential to add an inspired touch to a space. More
