9 Ways to Build Your Pinterest Audience
Young Entrepreneur
Take a look at the most popular players on Pinterest, and it will become clear they have a plethora of boards, usually between 50 and 100, on average. It's also obvious that those same users have gone to great efforts to make their boards as niched as possible so they stand a better chance of being found (and followed) by a targeted audience.

Curtains and My Blind Spot
The Washington Post
The architecture of the room demanded it; I have two windows in the bedroom and one large French door, and because I wanted to treat them all the same, curtains were really my only option, writes Elizabeth Mayhew, a lifestyle expert. I kept them as simple as possible — no ballooning, pelmets or valances — but even so, they were expensive, mostly because of the sheer volume of fabric needed.

Yankee Class
ELLE Decor
For most city dwellers, having a weekend house traditionally meant getting away from it all—perhaps to a place near the water, or somewhere nestled in the piney woods. But then came the overdevelopment of many formerly bucolic enclaves, and its ugly twin: the unbearable drudgery of weekend traffic.

A Cutting-Edge New York City Townhouse
Architectural Digest
For many of today's talented interior decorators, the kind of success that society values most — a heavily charged schedule requiring an army-size staff — comes at a price. That, at least, is the opinion of Delphine Krakoff, the proprietor (and assistant, associate, and nearly everything else) of the Manhattan-based firm Pamplemousse Design. "I don't want to be a businesswoman," says the French native, who is married to fashion designer Reed Krakoff. "I want to be a designer. That's what I love. It's why I've kept my business very small. So I'm known as the girl who often says no."

Beware, Common Sense Is a Good Idea Killer
To keep up with innovation, a business must get quick at spotting trends and reacting to them. But even that isn't always enough, said Luke Williams, author of Disrupt. Spotting and reacting places an emphasis on predicting trends, which is only getting harder the quicker society evolves. Entrepreneurs and innovators must be provocative in order to be fresh. That is, they need to suspend common sense.

All of this upheaval, along with ongoing uncertainty about when or whether the economy at home and abroad may achieve sustained recovery, has taken its toll on an industry which, even in the best of times, is considered a luxury by most clients. Depending on the type of practice and location of the firm, things may be looking up or getting gloomier.

Classical Furnishings
The New York Times
Objects that borrow their forms and proportions from ancient Greece or Rome have staying power for a reason. "The shapes have been worked out over generations," said Thomas Jayne, an interior designer whose work incorporates more than a few of those objects. "They're preapproved, if you will, and they’re reliable."

Bathed in Color: When to Use Black in the Bath
Black is admittedly an unconventional color choice for a dominant color. Making it work in a bathroom can be extremely tricky, especially one that is cramped or underlit. But when done well, it can look stunning and sophisticated, as evidenced by the selection of black bathrooms featured in this article.
