There's a new wave of entrepreneurs who believe the real key to long-term success comes from focusing on designing the company — not the product. More

As you are aware, you are now required to maintain .8 CEU's every two years. The deadline of Dec. 31 is fast approaching! This is a friendly reminder to submit your credits to the IDS/CQRID office to maintain your professional status.

The purpose of requiring CEU's is two-fold:

  1. CQRID is in the process of applying for full accreditation of the CQRID exam so that our professionals in states that have passed legislation may also be recognized for their professional efforts through CQRID and
  2. As required by all professional certification exams, it is required by our certifying body, (CCE), that professionals must stay abreast of current trends and changes in the industry in order to maintain their professional certification.
The following instructions clearly outline the process and requirements for filing your CEU credits through CQRID:
  • After each CEU approved program, you will receive a certificate signed and dated by the course instructor.
  • Send a copy of the certificate with a CEU Filing Form for each CEU, and a CEU payment form along with a $10.00 filing fee per CEU submitted to: CQRID, 164 S. Main Street, 4th Floor, High Point, NC 27260. Be sure to keep the original of that certificate for your files. Links for both documents are provided below for your convenience.
  • If you registered for a CEU approved program offered directly through IDS (market seminars offered by IDS, regional IDS conferences, national IDS conferences, or on-line CEU programs registered through IDS), it is not necessary to submit those credits; they are automatically recorded for you and do not require the $10.00 filing fee.
  • All other CEU approved programs must be turned in with the CEU Filing Form and the filing fee in order to receive credit.
  • You cannot receive double credits for participating in the same program more than one time.
  • CQRID honors all CEU approved credits. Therefore, those who are required to maintain certification through other organizations and/or state requirements can get credit in both arenas for each CEU approved course attended.
Your CQRID certification is important! You have successfully achieved the highest goal of professionalism in residential interior design by passing the CQRID exam; therefore it is of utmost importance that you maintain your professional status by maintaining the required number of CEU credits. We will forward another reminder prior to the end of the year. Please direct all questions and inquiries to the IDS office at 336-884-4437, ext. 222.

Lake House Decor Focuses On Views, Guests
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
When you're paying for the view, a vacation home doesn't need to have fussy décor or over-the-top interiors that distract from the lake setting. "That's the reason why they're buying the house," said Alicia Mooney-Macchia, owner of Alicia Mooney Interiors, an interior designer at Lake Oconee and throughout metro Atlanta. "What you want to do is walk in the house and look straight back at the view." More

Dark Rooms Are a Bright Idea
The Wall Street Journal    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
It might seem like a funny time of year to be considering dark paint colors, but it actually makes a lot of sense. Think of the Far East and those Indochinese and Vietnamese interiors of the early 20th century — dark walls with cane shades on the windows. Hotelier/designer Anouska Hempel brought that look to London with Blakes Hotel and it remains terribly chic today. More

Do Facebook Likes Translate to Actual Sales?
American Express OPEN Forum    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
If a customer likes you on Facebook, how often (if ever) does that translate into a sale? Alchemy Social analyzed the link between clicking Like and actually visiting a business' online store when it managed a Facebook campaign for a telecommunications company. Alchemy tracked fans who were active on the brand's Facebook page, those who were fans but not active and those who were not fans of the business at all to see how often they visited the company's online store. Tour the Kips Bay Decorator Show House
ELLE Decor    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The organizers of the Kips Bay Decorator Show House opted to switch things up a bit for the annual event's 40th year — they set up shop in a pair of West Side tower apartments instead of the usual Upper East Side townhouse. But the essential elements of the program stayed in place — as always, the show house raised money for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club in the Bronx,N.Y., a nonprofit organization devoted to after-school enrichment for New York City youth.
