My Houzz: An Artistic Life Fills a 150-Year-Old Home
Houzz
Patricia Gelman's 150-year-old beachside home is equal parts living space, studio, classroom and community gallery. The Paris-born artist uses her spacious rental to refinish and showcase flea market pieces from around the world, teach her gold- and silver-leaf techniques, and host biannual exhibits featuring other local artists. This mix of creativity, education, community and travel gives her interior a sophisticated but accessible style.

Marble: Luxury in the Raw
The New York Times
For many, Kelly Wearstler's name brings to mind a style that might be described as "Hollywood glamour," an aesthetic that involves the liberal use of mirrors and brass, black and white, and pops of color. But don't get the wrong idea: the Los Angeles designer has a down-to-earth side, too. She loves marble.

As authors of a number of books on financial planning, David B. Mandell, JD, MBA, and Carole Foos, CPA, have had the opportunity to speak with hundreds, if not thousands, of business owners and executives. Fortunately, both qualified retirement plans and fringe benefit plans can help you address these challenges in significant ways.
The New Kitchen Design Trend: Wood Minimalism
The Wall Street Journal
It is no mystery why white-painted cabinets are so ubiquitous — installed in 67 percent of kitchens completed in America in 2012, according to the National Kitchen and Bath Association. The non-color guarantees airiness, connotes cleanliness and generously reflects light. "White cabinets are brighter and more cheerful — coveted attributes in cities such as New York, where kitchens often face courtyards and lack natural light," said Manhattan-based designer Elissa Cullman, whose clients favor the look. And fans of modern-style cabinetry, with its signature flat-front door, have the widest variety of pre-finished design options if they stick to standard white.

Escena Palm Springs: SoCal's 1st Modern Tract Houses in Decades
Los Angels Times
Architect Anthony Poon and developer Andrew Adler open a wire-bound inspiration notebook to a page with a series of images. The first shows an iPhone with the word "minimal" underneath. The second shows a streamlined sofa labeled "modern." The third is a Prius with the notation "green." The images are connected with plus symbols, so the series reads like a question: iPhone + modern sofa + Prius = ?
