National Interior Design Society Selects New Executive Director
Jenny Cano to Lead National IDS Boldly into Exciting New Phase
The National Interior Design Society (IDS) is pleased to announce its new Executive Director Jenny Rebecca Cano. Cano was selected to lead IDS during this pivotal and exciting time as the organization is poised for major rebranding efforts, membership surges, and a bold new vision.
"It is an honor to join the Interior Design Society. This is an amazing opportunity to work with an organization that not only has a strong impact on the interior design industry, but also our community at large. I am looking forward to the important work ahead," says Cano.
National IDS President of the Board of Directors Jan Cregier says, "We are ecstatic to work with Jenny due to her membership and marketing experience, enthusiasm and overall vision to help transport IDS to the next level and beyond."

On behalf of the National IDS office and board of directors, it is with great sadness to let you know the passing of Dot Greenlee. Dot was the past President of the Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter and worked tirelessly with Dwell with Dignity and Jonathan's place, part of their chapter charity projects. Under her leadership, the Dallas chapter won their first chapter of the year award. Dot had her own business, Dorothy Greenlee Designs, in Dallas, Texas, and was recently named IDS National Designer of the Year in the Dining Room category in April. Our sincere condolences to her family, friends, clients and fellow IDS members. Besides Dot's work ethic, she will be missed for her genuine personality and friendly smile. Dot, you will be greatly missed.
Jan Cregier

You'd be forgiven for mistaking retail maven Laure Heriard Dubreuil and her artist husband Aaron Young's 1850s East Village rowhouse for one in Paris. First, there are the furnishings, a carefully curated mix of vintage pieces that feels as if it has been lovingly collected over a lifetime spent in the city's best flea markets. Then there's the unapologetic use of color. "Laure is all about sunshine and color and wants things to be vibrant," says designer Christopher Osvai, who helped Heriard Dubreuil articulate her vision. The result is a home that feels effortlessly chic and sophisticated, like the woman herself.

Consider it the grown-up version of a rainbow: Our new favorite home trend is an iridescent finish that conjures waves of color and looks different at every angle. The aesthetic first took shape at at last year’s Salone del Mobile in Milan. From Tom Dixon’s moody Oil collection to Patricia Urquiola’s opalescent-treated glass tables for Glas Italia, everyone was seeing rainbows at the show. By now, the trend has made its way stateside and cropped up in a number of new products. Whether you’re opting for a fully luminous table setting or just an accent piece, these nine items will add a little shine to your style.

Now, the pendulum has swung back in the other direction — but with one major difference.

Design is the product of the mind and the hand. What does design look like, though, when it's performed by the subconscious, and realized not by human hands, but by an algorithm?
These are the questions that Toronto-based industrial designer Nate Asis's latest project, the Digital Hand, asks. Hooked up to Microsoft's motion-sensing Kinect controller, it's a tool for designing furniture and home objects with your body's motions, not through direct manipulation with your hands.
