On behalf of the National IDS office and board of directors, it is with great sadness to let you know the passing of Dot Greenlee. Dot was the past President of the Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter and worked tirelessly with Dwell with Dignity and Jonathan's place, part of their chapter charity projects. Under her leadership, the Dallas chapter won their first chapter of the year award. Dot had her own business, Dorothy Greenlee Designs, in Dallas, Texas, and was recently named IDS National Designer of the Year in the Dining Room category in April. Our sincere condolences to her family, friends, clients and fellow IDS members. Besides Dot's work ethic, she will be missed for her genuine personality and friendly smile. Dot, you will be greatly missed.
Jan Cregier
IDS National Board of Directors, President

“Christmas at Designers’ Homes Across America,” available in bookstores since August 28, 2016, features the home of Little Rock interior designer Shayla Copas. Her beautiful living room graces the cover of this unique 256-page book. Also featured, are homes of 22 leading designers, including Christopher Radko (of vintage ornament fame) and Joe Ruggiero (host of HGTV’s Homes Across America). Almost 400 color images treat readers to dazzling holiday visions usually seen only by family and friends. “I am honored to be included among so many talented designer across our nation”, Copas said. “I am looking forward to the launch party which will take place at the Governor’s Mansion on November 1, 2016 at 6 pm. That night a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the book will be given to Children’s Advocacy Centers of Arkansas. We are pleased that Wordsworth in the Heights and At Home in Arkansas has partnered with us to promote the book and help the CAC’s.”

An Architectural Digest Top 100 designer shares her own ingenious d-i-y recycling of broken ornaments. Many share tips for decorating the tree and caring for much-loved ornaments. When summer days begin to wane and the leaves start to change, many designers and interior decor enthusiasts ditch the pastels for moody hues. It’s no wonder. Rich fall colors impart warmth as days grow crisp, and deep shades lend a sense of mystery as nights grow longer. Whether you choose to paint your rooms to reflect the season or simply add colorful accents, the effect is just as powerful. To teach us how to decorate with fall paint colors both subtle and bold, AD turned to Farrow & Ball’s head of creative, Charlie Cosby, for advice on incorporating dark hues in every room of the house. Read on for her helpful hints on how to make an impression in your home this fall.

Elizabeth Carrasco writes: "I would describe my personal design style as transitional with tendencies toward mid-century modern. Natural, organic fabrics and finishes are my preferred way to make a space feel more casual and relaxed. Fortunately for me, some of the popular colors of today — shades of turquoise, coral and ‘greige’ (that’s gray and beige) — have been my lifelong favorites. Because each client’s individual wants and needs are different, I am driven to create what I believe is best, beneficial and beautiful. The process is fluid, evolving with the ever-changing aspects of the industry, with just one constant — a cohesive, uncluttered result."
