The IDS National Board is accepting nominations for the position of National Director. Several positions will be open as some current Directors rotate off the board. The IDS National Office is currently in the process of issuing 2015 membership invoices. Please note that you have until Dec. 31 to remit a payment for your dues in order to avoid a lapse in membership. You have the option to conveniently pay your membership dues online. Oscar de la Renta, who died at age 82, was a man of impeccable style, from the fashions he designed for boldfaced women to the museum exhibitions he spurred as the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute's chairman, highlighting such eminences as Impressionist painter Joaquín Sorolla and De la Renta's onetime employer Cristóbal Balenciaga. The dapper Dominican-born couturier also possessed—and disseminated through his popular collections of fabric, furniture, and tableware for Century, Lee Jofa, and the like—an inspiring personal taste, at once winning and varied, in houses and gardens from rural Connecticut to the wilds of his native land.
