So it may encourage designers to know that Brad Pitt not only respects what they do but takes pains to be one of them.

Anything but Boring
The Wall Street Journal

From her office in West Hollywood, Kely Wearstler described how she approaches a new project. First, she considers the bones of the house, and how they can be steppingstones to a bigger idea: a double-height ceiling might turn into a two-story library, or an unused guest bedroom might become a dressing room.

One of the great things about social media is it makes it easier to gauge consumer sentiment and find opportunities. It takes some work, but you can determine who among your Twitter and Facebook followers are most likely to influence opinion about your company and products – and then you can target them with free offers, special insider status and other forms of flattery (hey, everyone wants to feel special).

All love stories unfold according to the same familiar rules. So do I-love-New-York stories. In the classic tale, you have a mad-hot affair with Manhattan in your 20s—wild nights, poetic mornings, fabulous people, brilliant cultural events. Then you flee to the suburbs and buy a house with a yard, having decided that the city is not a marriage-and-family type of town. But you never forget it. When William Sofield met the couple whose apartment he would ultimately spend the next two years designing, they were on the cusp of reuniting with the city they’d left behind.

Blue and White a Winning Design Combo
Houston Chronicle

Color trends come and go, but blue-and-white remains a timeless design combination. For centuries the soul-soothing, easy-on-the-eyes partnership we find in nature has inspired people to create porcelain, paint, fabric, wallpaper and rugs that bring blue-and-white indoors. Ancient blue-and-white Chinese porcelains, long the envy of collectors, are still copied today.

Frame of 18th-century Connecticut House Becomes An Antique Yet Modern Home for Potomac, Wash., Family
The Washington Post

On a meandering woodsy lane in Potomac, Wash., past a 1950s ranch and a couple of McMansions, sits a barn-red house with a cedar shake roof that looks as if it belongs to an 18th-century New England village. It does. The main section of the shingled home is actually the frame of a 1790 Colonial Connecticut farmhouse. An adjoining new wing that echoes the Colonial style seamlessly adds more living space, storage and a garage.
