By now, tickets should have been sold in their thousands. Flights should have been booked, catering and press passes lined up. Film buffs the world over were expecting to crowd into cinemas in Kyiv this month to watch some of the most lauded human rights-oriented films made by Ukrainians in 2021-22.
Instead, there was a tweet.
“Because the Russian Federation has started full-scale open hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, our team has decided to postpone Docudays UA until martial law is suspended and Russian aggression on the territory of Ukraine stops.”

Canadian Government tells arts bodies to suspend cultural events funded by Russian state

Heritage Minister Pablo Rodriguez has asked arts bodies that get federal funding to suspend all cultural activities involving Russians linked to Vladimir Putin's regime in protest of his invasion of Ukraine.
Canadian Heritage has written to organizations receiving the department's funding, asking them to cancel tours and co-productions bankrolled by Russian or Belarusian state organizations.

The Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival returns for its 35th year this weekend, reviving a beloved downtown Fort Worth tradition that was canceled for the past two years due to COVID-19. The festival begins Thursday and runs through Sunday.
Thousands of visitors typically flock to the event, which features a juried art show, live music on four stages, an array of local cuisine ranging from barbecue to fajitas to corny dogs, and a variety of beverage offerings, including craft beer and wine tastings.
