An Afrofuturist group says it reversed its decision to charge white people more for tickets to its Detroit festival than black and brown people because they received threats, an artist dropped out and a ticketing website threatened to unpublish their event.
The Eventbrite page for "AfroFuture Fest," hosted by Afrofuture Youth, advertised an "Early Bird POC Ticket" for $10 — with POC meaning "people of color" — and an "Early Bird NONPOC Ticket" for $20. The group defined "NONPOC" as white people.

The northern Spanish city of Pamplona this weekend opened its famous running of the bulls festival, a nine-day traditional event that draws thousands of spectators who come to watch people dodge bulls bolting down tight streets.
The festival makes Pamplona's population of nearly 200,000 residents jump to about a million visitors, and is considered one of Spain's biggest tourist attractions.

Woodstock 50’s organizers recieved some more bad news yesterday (July 9), when the town of Vernon, New York, denied the application for the anniversary festival to take place at local venue Vernon Downs.
The Poughkeepsie Journal, Variety and Syracuse.com all report that last night at Vernon’s town meeting, townspeople were concerned about hosting the festival. Their concerns ranged from the potential for vandalism in the to the lack of planning details in Woodstock 50's permit application.

In a cancellation notice on the event's website, organizers claim the legislation was "designed to remove [the festival] from the summer calendar."
Vaughan passed the bylaw in May, intended "to largely prohibit the smoking of recreational cannabis in public places," which laid out broad restrictions against smoking cannabis in any public place unless it was for medical purposes.
