South Korea Scraps Festivals, Keeps Students Home Over Flu

South Korea has called off international festivals and told hundreds of schoolchildren to stay home as the number of swine flu infections rises, officials said. The south coast city of Yeosu, which will hold a global Expo in 2012, scrapped an international youth festival it planned to host next week. More

Newburgh Council Closes Door on its Many Festivals

Newburgh is a city that likes its block parties, parades and gatherings, but if they're not already booked, permits are going to be hard to get. The city says, with few exceptions, it won't issue any more event permits until at least next year. Nor will it provide anymore sponsorships for outside events.
