Smaller shows, bigger sounds
The Boston Herald
Boston doesn't have a major music festival. That's a good thing. Most metropolitan areas our size have sprawling, multi-day, 150,000-strong events — Lollapalooza in Chicago, Outside Lands in San Francisco, Bumbershoot in Seattle. But the Hub's failure to attract a three-ring, greatest-show-on-earth circus has given the area the opportunity to program humbler rock 'n' roll carnivals.

Instagram is going musical this summer, finding a home at various music festivals around the globe. Smoking at summer festivals not totally off the menu
Chicago Tribune
Outdoor festivals serve as one of summer's biggest highlights, and while some health advocates are pushing to make the events smoke-free, many village leaders say it's not a problem in their communities. In towns including Lake Forest, CA and Arlington Heights, IL, outdoor smoking at festivals already isn't allowed, and in some of the towns where it isn't, officials aren't clamoring to change the rules.
