Call To Action: Code
NADRA
From Glenn Mathewson: "...Are you with me? I have heard your stories, your frustrations and your anger about codes, old and new, for many years. I still have a memory of being in the shoes of a deck builder, but lateral loads and such weren't an issue back then. Do I understand the plight of today's builder enough to speak for them at the hearing? Do you trust me to do so, or do you have anything else to tell me first?" We are asking for your feedback, Click here to take the Survey (Read the full article HERE)

The London Free Press
HGTV deck master Paul Lafrance is taking a Canadian rite of passage and "helping Canadian men do it better" with the launch of Disaster Decks, a new TV series that puts do-it-yourselfers under the microscope in a lighthearted way. "It's a very Canadian pastime to build a deck, but unfortunately most of the guys who set out to do this realize very quickly that there's a lot more to it than just slapping some pieces of wood together," says Lafrance, host of Decked Out, Deck Wars and CEO of Cutting Edge Construction and Design.

Meeting effectiveness: Do we need a meeting?

Meetings are the most misused tool in a leader's communications toolkit. In most instances, meetings are used by executive leadership as a first response to most situations unnecessarily. X has just happened so we need to call a meeting, or we need to meet to talk about Y. If leaders took the time to peruse their communications toolkits they would discover they have a number of tools that would be much more effective than having a meeting.

Forbes
Margaret Thatcher is being laid to rest, and I can't help but remember all of the valuable lessons she taught us. She was a part of our Greatest Generation — a generation that faced enormous obstacles like the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, the Depression and the spread of communism.
