Hi everyone,
We set our build date for Aug. 22 in Dracut, Mass. For anyone who had contributed would you please get in touch with me so we can plan delivery of product. Thank you Trex and FastenMaster for coordinating delivery of your products for the build! Also a special thanks to Latitudes/Deckorators for stepping up to sponsor the D4S tshirts for our build! The Lowell Sun will be doing a story as well as some local papers, if anyone has contacts with the media this will help give some PR to our contributors. The Colorado Chapter, Inc. of the International Code Council invites you to their next meeting! The Colorado Chapter of the ICC has opened their next meeting to you. The second day of the two-day meeting will include a deck construction course taught by NADRA's technical advisor, Glenn Mathewson. See HERE for more details. When: Thursday and Friday August 11-12 (Friday includes deck course) Where: Calrion Hotel, 14378 Hwy 34, Fort Morgan, Colo., 80701 Registration: $30 per person, per day - due at door. Includes lunch and breaks! What: This six-hour presentation is designed primarily for code professionals in mind, but will be beneficial to all those in the decking industry. The presentation includes discussion about how a deck can affect the structure it serves, new code provisions in the 2009 IRC, and an update about the industry as a whole...an attempt to de-mystify code professionals in regard to decks and code. You can bet I've got 30 minutes dedicated solely to discussing the lateral load anchor, how it got in the code, and what to do with it. What better way is there for a deck builder to learn the code than to be sitting next to those in charge of approving it!
