NADRA Blog Share
Mike Wolgammuth, his wife Melissa and their children Allison and Logan were the recipients of a Deck for a Solider® (D4S) build sponsored by the local Pennsylvania Chapter of NADRA. Melissa had submitted a D4S application to The North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA) and to her amazement they were chosen! Mike an E-4 Specialist of the 25 Bravo Co., of the 628th Aviation Brigade located in York, Pa., was so excited "this is amazing and now I know what it feels like to receive something I've always wanted," said the overwhelmed solider. Building-Products Online Share
The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is a huge environmental calamity, but it should serve as a wake-up call for the LBM supply chain for another reason. Why? The spill will certainly have an impact on local economies and local LBM dealers. But the spill is emblematic of much a bigger issue-the end of cheap oil. And that will shape the future of this industry, bringing tough challenges and green opportunities. More
Used plastic + hemp = lumber
Charlotte Observer Share
A UNC Charlotte researcher with a passion for sustainability is creating a new building material out of recycled plastic bottles and an ancient grass. Dr. Na Lu, an assistant professor at UNCC's Department of Engineering Technology, has created a material she believes may outperform composite lumber and wood lumber in many uses, and which has potential to be used in the residential and light commercial building industry. In her lab at UNCC, Luna, as she prefers to be called, holds a dog bone-shaped sample of her creation: a beige plastic woven with threads of what looks like horsehair. "Hemp," Luna says, and points to a fluffy pile of the fibers on the table. More

Just who makes up these active users of social media? More
