NADRA President, Matt Breyer is in Vienna, Austria now for the 12th edition of AMI's International Wood-Plastic Composites conference.
The two-day program draws on the most successful experiences in Europe and the USA to bring focus on the latest developments in the industry.
Mr. Breyer spoke yesterday in Vienna during the Market Trends segment: "Raising the bar in composite decking via CPAC". We will have more from Matt after his return to the states.
Pictured here with Matt:

How to build guards has never been provided for in the code, and even the loads that guards must resist have been pretty fuzzy throughout code history. Those target loads have come into some pretty serious question now that so much testing is being conducted to assure guard posts will meet a 500 lb or greater load. The current code requires the top of a guard and handrail to resist a 200 lb. load in any direction.

We wanted to say thank you to all of you who were able to attend the meeting and a special thank you to FastenMaster for a great presentation and hands-on demonstration. We had nearly 30 members in attendance, it was a great turn-out.
We want to remind everyone, especially those who could not make the meeting, how important it is to support NADRA’s initiative and Glenn Mathewson, our voice at these code hearings. As we discussed at the meeting, it is so important to have Glenn at these code meetings to be sure that the building codes stay fair for all of us from the manufacturers to the builders and even for the homeowners and everyone in between. Keeping Glenn at these meetings comes at a cost that our organization cannot fund by itself. We need help from each one of you.
Here is the video of presentations that were given at our annual meeting at DeckExpo in Baltimore. Here is the link for contributing. Please, every dollar matters!!
Thank you all,
Bruce & Judy Verblaauw
On behalf of NADRA

Whether or not you and your spouse work together, the clearer you are about what each of you is responsible for, the better your relationship will be.
In my work with business owners and as a facilitator of Remodelers Advantage Roundtable peer group meetings, I see some of the same issues pop up, over and over again. A company that does not have roles clearly defined is constantly dealing with mistakes and frustrations, with profits lower than planned, and with unhappy clients.

Is your budget tight? A logical choice might be to view marketing as a variable expense. Just ask the marketing folks to do more for less.
Don’t fall into that trap.
“There’s a point where more-for-less is mathematically unattainable,” says marketing expert Denise Kohnke.
