NADRA
UPDATE on the build: Day one was Monday and we demolished the old deck and set the ledger and poured some footings in preparation for today’s (Wednesday) build. Hoping to wrap it up in one day for this deserving family. Things went well. I know the family is excited as the kids peered through the windows as we were working. Looking forward to them seeing the final result. Read more and see photos on the blog here.

The New Jersey Deck for a Soldier® build is for a young soldier who served in the Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan from 2007 – 2011 and was in the Inactive Reserve from 2011 – 2015. A little over a year ago, he was on his way to work one morning as an electrician apprentice on his motorcycle when he was hit by an elderly gentleman. He was in a coma for 45 days and was left with nerve damage in his eyes and right leg. He lost part of his left leg. His mom had to quit her job to help take care of him. Friends all joined together to donate money to help him buy a house, but it only has a front entrance and no outdoor living space. We are planning on installing a sliding door in the kitchen and a deck on the rear of the home to give them a second entrance, as well as, a place to enjoy the outdoors.
We have the deck framing, decking and railings. We are still in need of:
- A door, The framing, insulation and trim necessary for the door install
- Wood posts to support the deck
- Misc. hardware,
- Lighting
- Porta-potty
- Lunch
- Monetary donations for small items

Those big, stylish outdoor kitchens are generating a different sort of heat.
Manufacturers, along with building and fire officials, are warning consumers to avoid installing the grills under roofs or next to ordinary wood decks or walls. At least one agency, the Delaware County Building Department, has started prohibiting built-in grills under patio roofs or next to walls without protections such as vents and fire blocks.

You’ll never forget the lessons learned from jobs you held early on in your career. One boss regularly sought out your input on impending changes, and actually listened. That meant a lot. On the other end of the scale, another boss completely shut down your ideas because, and I quote, “that’s not how we’ve always done it.”

Outdoor decorating often focuses on turning decks, patios and porches into summer destinations. But some people love their outdoor entertaining space even more when the weather turns colder.
“Being outside with friends and family on a slightly chilly evening is about as good as it gets,” said interior designer Andrew Howard, based in Ponte Vedra Beach.

The average American spends 37 minutes per day on social media. That amounts to 217 hours or 9 days — almost a week and a half — over the course of a year.
That alone is enough reason for any business to jump on the social media marketing train; however, it’s important to consider that investing yourself in social media is extremely time consuming.

It's here. The most wonderful, weight-gaining, money-spending, schedule-packed time of the year is upon us. Here are three simple ways to manage the overwhelm and keep a positive perspective this year. To begin, we often find that obligations are not fun, they are obligations. Pick at least one event you dread every year and do not go. That's it, don't go. Use the time for anything else or nothing else but don't attend.

There's no use in denying it — marketing is a critical component of a small business' success.
The challenge is that so many small business owners have no idea what it takes to make marketing work for them. They are experts in their business, but they simply don’t have the time to become experts in the ever changing world of online marketing.
