Some homeowners opt for composite as an earth-friendly sustainable choice while others cite low maintenance, warranted durability, and improved aesthetics. AZEK Building Products, in conjunction with Hanley Wood's Metro Study, has identified the top 25 cities that are embracing the movement to engineered composite decks over traditional wood decks.

From June 7: CPG International, manufacturer of AZEK and TimberTech branded building products has announced that it will initiate pricing increases on many of its products. AZEK trim and molding, along with most AZEK brand decking collections, will see an increase of 7 percent.

From Feb. 1: After 20 years as decking, composite wood boards by Fiberon are finding new uses as cladding for rain screen systems, which help walls manage moisture.
The New London, N.C.-based manufacturer's Symmetry and Horizon decking lines, which are made from recycled polyethylene and wood scraps, are both suitable for rain screen walls, Fiberon Sales Director Bill Ross said at the International Builders' Show.
