Fall agritourism continues with new protocols
Lancaster Farming
It’s a brave new world at dozens of fall agritourism destinations this year.
Many activities enjoyed by people of all ages have been canceled and guests who turn out must adapt to COVID-19 health and safety protocols, which pose costly new challenges for farm owners.
"We're just happy to be able to open," Garth Ellms said. "We'll have about 10 people dedicated to cleaning and sanitizing. They'll be sanitizing the farm throughout the day, every day, and we'll obviously be promoting social distancing. Masks will be required 100% of the time."

Why Seattle's corn mazes might be one of the safest fall activities amid COVID-19
Seattle PI
As all manner of pumpkin patches around Seattle divvy out plump orange jack o'lanterns, corn mazes will also be able to operate under new guidelines.
Effective as of Sept. 21, all agritourism activities in Washington are allowed to operate under Phase 2 guidance. Counties in a Modified Phase 1 are also allowed to operate as long as they follow Phase 2 guidance. In short, you can visit pumpkin patches, apple orchards, berry farms, corn mazes and Christmas tree farms which will all operate under Gov. Inslee's Phase 2 guidelines.

'Keep ag land ag land': Proposed ordinance would allow wineries in county
HJ News
A way to preserve the rural feel of the valley and further the future of agriculture. A way to offer locals and tourists somewhere to enjoy the beauty Cache Valley, Utah has to offer, and maybe a sip or two on some artisan wine or hard cider, grown and produced locally.
And ultimately, a way to sustain business in a time when farming is undervalued.

Oregon wine sales grow, even during COVID-19
Bend Bulletin
Oregon wine industry researchers just uncorked a new annual report showing sales growth for the past year — and the glass looks half full. Winemakers statewide have faced challenges in 2020, from limited agritourism to restaurant and tasting room closures during the pandemic. But a new industry report from the Oregon Wine Board, released this week, shows that the state’s wine industry grew substantially in 2019 and sales have continued to grow even during COVID-19.

Reflecting on the Utah State Fair during the pandemic
Utah Public Radio
Many fairs across the country were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, in Utah the state fair continued. Ashely Moyes, who has been going to the state fair since she was a kid, attended this year and said she loves sharing the experience with her kids.
"Based off crowds, usually when you go to the fair, it is like shoulder to shoulder people and you have to hold on to your children," said Moyes. "It's just way too crowded and the lines are so long for everything even dinner. And so this experience was totally different."

The Buffalo News
When Leanna Ohol saw the special logo Evans Bank created for its 100th anniversary, she had a reaction others didn't: That would make a great corn maze.
