Over the past few years, there has been rising interest in the use of design-build in the construction of hotel projects. Hospitality interiors are a shining example of the intersection of form and function. Hotel suites encourage rest; restaurants and storefronts entice indulgence; meeting and event rooms inspire interaction. But these high-traffic commercial spaces are more than "pretty spaces" — they must be as durable as they are eye-catching. Interior finishes, such as wallcoverings, serve both purposes, and continue to evolve to meet aesthetic, performance and sustainability needs.

Gains in technology, combined with advances in design practice, have made it entirely possible to create lighting systems that offer significant energy savings over designs that are merely code-compliant. But those savings don't come at the expense of occupant satisfaction. In fact, high-performance lighting, provided it is well designed, can actually be better for occupants than older, less energy-efficient systems.

Being able to find and apply the right knowledge and truly understand the ends and means of a process are the true keys to saving money, becoming more efficient and ensuring continued existence of a company or facility, as well as the environment.

Energy Manager Today
Windows, which can be defined as holes in the sides of buildings through which energy enters and escapes, are one of the most important battlegrounds in the struggle to increase efficiency.
This is true for a couple of reasons. On one hand, windows perhaps are the element of the building where the barrier between the outside and inside environment is thinnest and where it is most important to control the entry and exit heating and cooling. On the other, the sheer amount of glass in a typical structure represents a golden opportunity to harvest solar energy.
