At least 10 percent of all U.S. electricity generated in March was a result of wind and solar power, an all-time high, according to a U.S. Energy Information Administration report. A single online report of a bed bug would cause 60 percent of hotel guests not to book with that hotel, according to findings from a University of Kentucky report.
It doesn't even matter much whether or not the bed bug report is valid or confirmed, said Michael Potter, entomologist at the University of Kentucky and co-author of "Bed bugs and hotels: Travelers insights and implications for the industry." He added, though, that the unverified report could still cause major damage to a hotel's reputation.

USA Today
Wyndham Worldwide, one of the world's largest operators of timeshare properties, said Aug. 2 it plans to spin off its hotel business, a strategic move to allow the two separate companies to focus on their strengths and find more financing opportunities.
The hotel unit, Wyndham Hotel Group, will become a new, publicly traded company by the first half of next year.

If you're tired at work, you're not alone. Some 43 percent of Americans say they do not get enough sleep to mitigate critical risks that can jeopardize safety at work and on the roads, including the ability to think clearly, make informed decisions and be productive.
According to a new National Safety Council survey-based report, "Fatigue in the Workplace: Causes & Consequences of Employee Fatigue," 81 percent of the probability-based survey respondents have jobs that are at high risk for fatigue – positions that require sustained attention or are physically or cognitively demanding, such as driving a vehicle or working at a construction site.

Occupants on one floor of a high-rise office building in New York City were able to reduce lighting energy usage by nearly 80 percent in some areas by using advanced lighting and automated shades, according to scientists from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. In New York City, the Dream Midtown's 2-year-old PHD Terrace is a prime example of an urban multilevel indoor/outdoor rooftop lounge.
