The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently published a final rule requiring the electronic reporting and sharing of Clean Water Act National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program information to replace the current paper-based reporting of this information. Industrial facilities, including some chemical distribution facilities, must obtain NPDES storm water permits and implement storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs) or storm water management programs (both using best management practices) that reduce or prevent the discharge of pollutants into receiving waters. The final rule will take effect on December 21, 2015.
