The committee for this activity will produce a consensus study on social isolation in older adults. Eradication of social isolation is one of the Grand Challenges for Social Work initiative, which is led by the American Academy of Social Work & Social Welfare and supported by NASW. Preventing and mitigating social isolation reduces both the risk and effects of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
