Watch the Recorded Webcast
NASW President Kathryn Wehrmann, NASW CEO Angelo McClain, NASW Foundation Director Robert Arnold, and NASW Foundation Assistant Director Susan Rubin represented NASW at Social Work Day at the United Nations on April 1. The annual event convenes people from around the world who are working to make a difference. This year’s theme was child protection.
NASW Social Justice and Human Rights Manager Mel Wilson joined officials from other social justice and adoption agencies to protest two discriminatory foster care bills in the Tennessee state legislature, HB 836/SB 1304 and HB 1152/SB 848. In their joint op-ed, NASW, the North American Council on Adoptable Children, the National Center on Adoption and Permanency, and the Harmony Family Center warned how the bills would allow adoption agencies in the state to deny services to families based on their faith, marital status, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
