Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld President Trump's discriminatory travel ban for individuals from selected Muslim nations. NASW is appalled the Court chose to embrace a policy that could lead to a new era of religious bigotry. By permitting Trump's "Muslim ban," the Court encourages an underlying xenophobic and nativist trend. Through advocacy, assertive actions, and coalition building, NASW will work to reverse these disturbing trends.

| HELP FOR FAMILIES SEPARATED BY ZERO TOLERANCE |
New Tool to Connect Separated Families
The Vera Institute of Justice, in collaboration with New America and other legal services and immigration organizations, has launched the Immigrant Connection Project, a tool for parents who have been separated from their children because of the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy. ICON helps parents and their lawyers locate and connect with the legal services provider working with their children. ICON allows these parents and their legal representatives to submit inquiries by phone or email. Upon submission of an inquiry, the tool will link the parent to the online intake and referral forms of various legal services organizations that have the capacity to provide legal services such as representation and assistance with bond hearings and payment.

Abstract
This paper surveys the history of nativism in the United States from the late nineteenth century to the present. It compares a recent surge in nativism with earlier periods, particularly the decades leading up to the 1920s, when nativism directed against southern and eastern European, Asian, and Mexican migrants led to comprehensive legislative restrictions on immigration. It is based primarily on a review of historical literature, as well as contemporary immigration scholarship.
