The National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA) and the FrameWorks Institute have created an online video series, "Reframing the Conversation on Elder Abuse," to teach advocates how to communicate effectively about elder abuse, thereby building support for systemic solutions to the problem. The series provides an oral introduction to material included in the FrameWorks "Talking Elder Abuse" tool kit. NASW, a member of the Reframing Elder Abuse Committee, provided input that informed development of the tool kit. Use coupon code WEAAD2018 to access the series, hosted by the FrameWorks Academy, free of charge until June 15, 2019 (the next World Elder Abuse Awareness Day). CEUs are not provided.
The Go4Life campaign, created and led by the National Institute on Aging, helps adults 50 years of age and older to fit exercise and other physical activity into daily life. NASW is a Go4Life Partner. The theme for this year's Go4Life Month, observed in September, is "Get Ready! Get Moving! Go4Life!" Access the Go4Life Month tool kit to find videos, tip sheets, activity ideas, and other resources to plan and promote activities in your organization or community.

Psychosis is not a single disorder, diagnosis, or symptom, but rather a collection of symptoms that vary depending on the specific disorder that may be diagnosed and the etiology of that disorder. Additionally, the duration and severity of the psychotic symptoms play prominent roles in determining the exact disorder that may eventually be diagnosed and treated.

Social Work
The goal of this article is to deepen understanding of the concept of professional resistance. Studies show that social workers in various parts of the world are increasingly confronted with regulations, programs, and policies that challenge their ability to carry out their professional mission in an ethical manner. Social workers may also find themselves under the pressure of periodic retrenchment resulting from budgetary constraints and subjected to worsening working conditions and threats of wage or social benefit reduction.

Ask Your Representative to Co-sponsor H.R. 1484, the Social Worker Safety Act
It takes only a few minutes to advocate for your safety on the job. Send a pre-written email or letter to your representatives through NASW's Advocacy listserv that asks them to sign on to the Social Worker Safety Act. The act addresses your safety needs by
- Establishing a Social Worker Safety Grant Program within the Department of Health and Human Services to fund state efforts to improve safety measures for social workers.
- Allowing these grants to be used to purchase safety equipment, make facility improvements, facilitate safety training programs, provide support services for social workers who have been victims of violence, and track incident data to mitigate future offenses against social workers.

The Trust for America's Health and the Well Being Trust created a joint policy paper that calls for a national strategy to improve childhood resilience and school responses to crises involving suicide, drugs and alcohol, District Administration reports.

The Chronicle of Social Change
There has recently been a lot of action around youth-centric legislation in Hawaii. In July, Gov. David Ige signed a number of new laws governing the state’s child welfare and juvenile justice systems.
The slate of legislation comes after a recent federal review that determined Hawaii was failing to meet the federal standards for children in foster care.
