Nuggets Send Athletic Trainer Jim Gillen Out in Style
NBA.com
It was sweater weather inside Denver's Pepsi Center. More accurately, sweater-vest weather. In a show of appreciation for longtime athletic trainer Jim Gillen, the Nuggets coaching staff and several members of the organization donned sweater vests for Denver's season finale against the Golden State Warriors. "That was the coolest thing," Gillen said. "There were more sweater vests in the arena than a JC Penney warehouse."

MLB's 'One-Year Experiment' is a Step in the Right Direction
University of Texas
Opening day for Major League Baseball was March 30, and one thing you'll see less of this season is home plate collisions thanks to a new rule that limits how a runner and catcher collide at home plate. Are Exercise Cool-Downs Necessary?
The New York Times
Q: A lot of exercise routines call for a cool-down at the end. Is this necessary? What for?
A: "For a long time, the theory was that cooling down by continuing to exercise at a lower intensity would help the legs flush out lactate" and avoid soreness the next day, said Ross Tucker, a South African physiologist and a founder of the website The Science of Sport. "That's still dogma among many coaches and athletes." But it is a myth.

So what about one of baseball's most sacred traditions — using ice after throwing?
