The Cramer Student Lounge is back at this year's 62nd NATA Annual Meeting & Clinical Symposia, and free internet access is only one reason to stop by. Cramer's signature event, the Student Reception, will including sandwiches, sides and drinks - all for FREE. Plus, students will get their Cramer giveaway items a day early. They will be distributed during the reception instead of at the exhibit hall. The Board of Certification has completed a year-long review of various policies, procedures, guidelines and feedback from you. As a result, the BOC will be revising the following recertification requirements: recertification fee, continuing education (CE) guidelines, simple reporting form, certification statuses and the recertification expiration date. The meeting focused on therapy for traumatic brain injury patients, and Rice presented the athletic trainer perspective. USA Today recently published an editorial that says certain states are passing adequate laws to protect young athletes who suffer head injuries. Others, however, fall way short. Laws in some stays, the editorial states, are simply passed to make lawmakers feel good while doing nothing for athletes. An opposing view published in the daily newspaper says that legislation is too restrictive and that improvement in education and safety demand more attention. More

Bodychecking in youth hockey leagues should be banned to prevent concussions which can cause serious repercussions, states an analysis in the Canadian Medical Association Journal.
