How and Why Minimal or Non-Contact Injuries Occur in NFL Workouts
Bleacher Report
Last year, an outbreak of preseason ACL tears throughout the NFL drew attention to the injury like never before. Other serious injuries — Achilles tendon ruptures and triceps tears, for example — also dotted last year's summer football landscape, and many teams felt the effects throughout the entire 2013 regular and postseason. Unlike regular-season injuries, early offseason injuries usually do not come as a result of high-flying collisions.

The Science of LeBron's Cramping
ESPN
With a touch more than four minutes left in the fourth quarter of Game 1 of the 2014 NBA Finals, LeBron James crossed over Boris Diaw, drove hard to the rim and floated a layup. With 4:10 left to play, the ball dropped through the hoop, bringing the Miami Heat within two points of the San Antonio Spurs and setting up what was sure to be another memorable Finals finish from two teams that specialize in them. And what happened next will indeed be forever remembered, but not for the basketball.

Why Your Shin Splints aren't Really Shin Splints
Stack
Your lower legs throb and ache after workouts, so you think you have shin splints. There's a good chance you're wrong. People often incorrectly self-diagnose shin splints. With the information readily available to the public, it's not hard to see why. WebMD lists shin splints as a pathology, and other websites classify it similarly. Their descriptions usually read something like this: "Shin splints refer to pain in the lower leg."
