It features the new Consensus Statement "The Inter-Association Task Force for Preventing Sudden Death in Collegiate Conditioning Sessions: Best Practices Recommendations." An article about the evidence for rest, ice, compression and elevation therapy in the treatment of ankle sprains in adults is also featured, along with an editorial from new Editor-in-Chief Craig Denegar, PhD, PT, ATC, FNATA. NATA is offering a new webinar series focusing on treatment techniques for lateral ankle sprains and ankle instability. The first installment in this series, "Module 1 — Ankle Sprains and Instability: What Are We Trying to Treat?" will be presented by Erik Winstrom, PhD, ATC, at 11 a.m. CT on Sept. 12. Participants will learn the mechanical consequences of a lateral sprain and its sequela, discuss the sensorimotor dysfunction caused by a lateral ankle sprain and understand the implications these consequences have for rehabilitation decisions. Kevin Guskiewicz, PhD, ATC, has been chosen to be part of the CDC's Pediatric Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Guideline Workgroup. This group, established by the CDC National Center for Injury Prevention and Control's (Injury Center) Board of Scientific Counselors, will work to create clinical diagnosis and management guidelines for acute mild TBI among children and teenagers that happen both on and off the sports surface. Football players are hitting the field once again. Monday was the first day of summer practice in Texas. With new rules set by the University Interscholastic League, some schools are cutting back on the amount of time players practice. "When it gets to 105, 106, it sucks, but what are you going to do? Last week, Assembly Bill 1452 passed through the state assembly 65-0.
