The Rise of Concussions
from The Safety Report    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
To understand a concussion, we have to start with the most basic question: What is a concussion and what causes it? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention define a concussion as "a type of traumatic brain injury, or TBI, caused by a bump, blow or jolt to the head that can change the way your brain normally works." However, concussions can also occur from a blow to the body that causes the head to move rapidly back and forth. More

from Reuters Health via Chicago Tribune    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Fewer high school field hockey players get head and face injuries when they're required to don protective eyewear, according to a new comparison of states with and without those policies in effect. Wisconsin Act 172, signed into law on April 2, contains three main components.
