Last May, NATA unveiled a new online resource based on the Recommendations and Guidelines for Appropriate Medical Coverage of Intercollegiate Athletics. The interactive AMCIA tool includes an online calculator, the definition of appropriate medical care in the college and university setting, strategies for using the calculator and a list of frequently asked questions. A list of mentors who have successfully used the AMCIA in the past is included in case new users need help. Use this tool and continue providing the best possible athlete care. More

Call for Young Professional Volunteers

NATA is looking for volunteers to help the Young Professionals' Committee with its 2011 ATEP Outreach project. Volunteers would deliver a presentation to students, informing them about membership benefits, district and state volunteer opportunities and what lies ahead when taking that first job. Charlotte, N.C., Main School District to Have Athletic Trainers

NATA has contacted the source of this article to thank them for the coverage and to remind about the correct terminology when referring to an athletic trainer.

Over the next five years, each high school in Charlotte-Mecklenburg (N.C.) Schools will get a certified athletic trainer on campus. CMS announced a five-year agreement with Carolinas HealthCare to bring the athletic trainers, who will be Carolinas HealthCare employees, to the school campuses. Each one will be nationally certified and state-licensed as part of a joint effort between both parties to address recent national concerns about athletic injuries, particularly concussions in football and sudden cardiac arrests.
