New California Law Targets Brain Injuries in High School Sports

Many school districts across California have long required high school coaching staffs to be educated about the dangers of concussions and brain injuries, but in August Gov. Jerry Brown signed a law that requires all high school coaches to complete concussion awareness training every two years. Study Examines Hip Injuries for Professional Hockey Players

The most frequent intra-articular hip injuries in the National Hockey League are hip labral tears, according to a study published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine. Researchers examined a database of injury surveillance for NHL players from 2006 to 2010 to identify athletes with hip or groin injuries. There were 94 reported hip injuries and 10.6 percent were identified as intra-articular injuries. More
